Privacy Policy

Trapd (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a crowdsourced driver-awareness app for emergency vehicles, cameras, and road hazards, operated by Sours Syrup LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account details. If you create an account: your email address and password (the password is stored hashed by our authentication provider, never in plain text). If you use a guest Trapd ID instead, we create a random ID and no email.
- Display ID. A random “Trapr…” ID shown on pins you report. It is not your name.
- Location. Your device location is used to show nearby alerts, to place pins you drop, and to warn you about hazards ahead. If you grant “Always” location access, alerts can work while the app is in the background. You can change this any time in iOS or Android Settings. We do not use location for advertising.
- Pins you submit. The type, location, direction, and time of each pin, and your confirm/dismiss votes. Pins are visible to other users and expire or are removed by the community.
- Optional road traces. This is the one exception to “no location trails.” If you choose “Record road trace” on a Bad Road or Gravel Road report, the app records your route only between the moment you tap Start and Stop. It also stops by itself at a maximum distance or time, if GPS signal is lost, or if you leave the app. We keep only a simplified line attached to that report, not raw GPS points and not a history of your driving. Other drivers can see the line with the report. It is deleted when the report expires or is resolved, and always within 30 days.
- Confirmations, resolutions and flags. When you confirm, resolve (for example “Road repaired”) or flag a report, we use your location at that moment to check you are nearby. That location is erased when the report closes and never kept longer than 90 days.
- Abuse-prevention records. We keep how your reports turn out (confirmed, resolved, false, expired) and signals used to spot fake or abusive reporting, tied to your account, for up to 180 days.
- Reports you send. If you report a pin, we store the pin, your account, and the reason.
- Founding Tester program (optional). If you choose to join, we store the email address of your account, your platform (iOS or Android), the date you accepted and which version of the agreements you accepted, your monthly check-in dates, and your standing in the program. This email is used only to run the program, such as matching your check-in emails and sending program reminders. We do not use it for marketing. Trapd does not otherwise use your email for anything but your account.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, a push token identifies your device so we can deliver alerts.
- Subscription status. Whether your subscription is active, and a customer ID from our payment provider. We never see or store your card number.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use your camera, microphone, contacts, or photos.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not keep a location history of your driving, other than the optional road trace described above.
Services that process data for us
- Supabase — accounts, pins, and app data storage.
- Mapbox — map display. Mapbox may receive your device location and technical data to render maps under its own privacy policy.
- Stripe, Apple, and Google — subscription payments, depending on how you subscribe.
- RevenueCat — processes Apple and Google Play in-app subscription status for us, using your random account ID (no name or card details).
- Expo / Apple / Google push services — delivering notifications.
Retention and deletion
Pins expire or are removed automatically. Account data is kept while your account is active. To delete your account and associated data, email support@trapd.app from your account email.
Children
Trapd is for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Safety notice
Alerts and locations come from other users and may be inaccurate. Use the app at your own risk, obey all traffic laws, and do not use it while driving.
Changes
If our practices change, we will update this page and its date.
