Information We Collect

Location data. Trapd uses your device’s GPS location to show you nearby speed camera and speed trap alerts on the map, and to let you drop a pin marking a trap you’ve spotted. Location is used only while you’re actively using the app.

Pin reports. When you submit a pin (a speed trap or camera location), that pin’s location and timestamp are stored so other users can see it until it expires.

Crash and usage analytics. We collect anonymous, non-identifying technical data — such as app crashes, error logs, and general usage patterns — to help us fix bugs and improve the app. This data is not linked to your name, email, or any personal identity.

What We Don’t Do

• We do not collect your name, email, or contact information unless you choose to create an account (if/when accounts are added, this policy will be updated).
• We do not sell your data to data brokers, advertisers, or any third party.
• We do not track your location in the background when the app is closed.

How Location Data Is Used

Location data is used solely to power the app’s core function: showing you relevant nearby alerts and letting you contribute pins. It is not used for advertising or shared with outside companies.

Data Retention

Pin reports expire automatically after a set time window and are removed from active display. Anonymous crash/analytics data may be retained in aggregate to help improve app stability.

Third-Party Services

Trapd may use third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools (e.g., Expo/EAS analytics, crash reporting services) solely for anonymous technical diagnostics. These providers do not receive your name or contact information.

Children’s Privacy

Trapd is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If Trapd’s data practices change (for example, if account creation or ads are added), this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date revised accordingly.
